The material developments and realization of CD-ROMs as well as the conception, editorial processing and production of book titles on digital data carriers is a new business sector. In an initial pilot scheme the "Course book Health" was produced as CD-i and on a CD-ROM.
The various possibilities of electronic publishing - for instance the connection of text with audio and video supported creative elements, the incorporation of 2- and 3-dimensional animation and graphics, the multitude of interactive applications and the uncomplicated up-dating of data - open up new fields of application in the exchange of information and knowledge.
