TESTIMONIES
Holocaust survivors tell students about their lives during the Nazi-Regime.
DVD, 2004
German version available.

Students interviewed 25 contemporary witnesses of the NS Regime about their schooldays, the social exclusion and persecution, the horrid doings of the NS-regime, but they talked as well about solidarity and resistance.
The most exciting personal stories - embedded into the historical context with a extensive glossary and a timeline, which was developed in cooperation with the Shoah Foundation - can be explored interactively. This DVD offers a survey of the darkest chapter of Austrian history an can be used individually as well as in groups as a basis for discussion or historical or biographical projects in schools.
To watch the DVD, a DVD player or a computers with integrated DVD drive is needed. All interviews are available as texts or as videos. The conversation can be perceived in full length or chapter by chapter. Terms which need to be explained are marked in the texts and linked to the glossary, in which historical terms are precisely elucidated. All texts can also be printed.

Experts of the Austrian federal ministry of education, science and culture, who had to decide whether this DVD should be recommended for school, said:
"The history of National Socialism is documented like in no other schoolbook by means of different contemporary witnesses."
(Mag. Kurt Lux)
"Everyday language, well done interviews, good optical presentation: it cannot be done better. Material of higher quality which can be used in so many different ways for the procurement of democratic thinking cannot be found anywhere else."
(OStr. Prof. Othmar Pilz)
"The important thing about it is the didactical preparation. This includes the texts, the glossary, the very interesting timeline as well as the precise suggestions for school lessons.
(OStr. Prof. Mag. G. Moser)
